By Mr. Subhankor

I’ve been stuck in the middle of this debate for three years now. Every time I think I’ve figured out which blockchain is superior, something happens that makes me question everything. I’ve invested in both, lost money on both, and made profits on both. Today, I’m going to share my brutally honest experience with Ethereum and Solana, and tell you which one I’m betting on for 2025.

My Journey: From Ethereum Maximalist to Blockchain Realist

By Mr. Subhankor

Back in 2021, I was an Ethereum purist. I believed in decentralization, security, and the world computer vision. When someone mentioned Solana, I’d dismiss it with the classic line: It’s too centralized or Wait till it goes down again. I was trying to mint an NFT on Ethereum, and the gas fee was $120. The NFT itself cost $50. I was about to pay $170 total for a $50 digital image. Out of frustration, I tried the same thing on Solana cost me less than a cent. The transaction confirmed in under a second. That moment changed everything for me. I realized I’d been defending Ethereum without actually comparing it fairly to alternatives. Since then, I’ve used both chains extensively, developed small projects on both, and invested in both ecosystems.

Ethereum: The Established Giant

By Mr. Subhankor

What I Love About Ethereum

Security & Decentralization– I sleep better at night knowing my money is on Ethereum. With thousands of validators worldwide and a proven track record since 2015, Ethereum is the Fort Knox of smart contract platforms. I’ve never worried about Ethereum going down permanently. Developer Ecosystem – When I wanted to learn smart contract development, 90% of the tutorials, tools, and resources were for Ethereum. The community support is incredible. Solidity Ethereum’s programming language has more developers than any other blockchain language. Network Effects – Everything important happens on Ethereum first. DeFi was born on Ethereum. NFTs exploded on Ethereum. Major institutions building blockchain solutions? They choose Ethereum. This network effect is massive and often underestimated. The Merge Success – When Ethereum switched from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake in September 2022, I was nervous. A multi billion dollar blockchain changing its entire consensus mechanism? But they pulled it off flawlessly. That proved to me that Ethereum can evolve.

Solana: The Fast Challenger

By Mr. Subhankor

What I Love About Solana

Speed & Cost – This is game-changing. I’ve done hundreds of transactions on Solana, and I’ve probably spent less than $5 total in fees over two years. Transactions confirm in 400 milliseconds. Coming from Ethereum, this feels like magic. User Experience – When I introduced my non-crypto friends to blockchain, I used Solana. They could experiment, make mistakes, and learn without burning money on fees. The UX is simply better for retail users. Growing Ecosystem -Solana’s DeFi ecosystem has matured significantly. Jupiter, Raydium, Marinade these protocols work beautifully. The NFT scene on Solana is vibrant and accessible. I’ve participated in communities that simply couldn’t afford to operate on Ethereum.

The Truth

By Mr. Subhankor

After three years of using both, I’ve realized something that tribal crypto enthusiasts hate to admit We probably need both. Ethereum is building the financial infrastructure for trillion dollar institutions. It’s the blockchain for serious money the place where banks, governments, and major corporations will tokenize assets. Solana is building the blockchain for everyday people. It’s where micro-transactions make sense, where creators can afford to launch projects, where the next billion users will onboard.

My Personal Prediction for 2025

By Mr. Subhankor

Ethereum will:

  • Maintain its position as the #2 cryptocurrency by market cap
  • Handle the majority of institutional DeFi and RWA tokenization
  • See most retail activity move to Layer 2s
  • Trade between $3,500-$6,000
  • Successfully implement the Dencun upgrade

Solana will:

  • Solidify its position in the top 5 cryptocurrencies
  • Dominate consumer-facing applications (NFTs, gaming, payments)
  • Achieve 99%+ network uptime reliability
  • Trade between $200-$400
  • Continue growing its mobile-first strategy

Conclusion

By Mr. Subhankor

After three years of living in both ecosystems, making and losing money on both platforms, and using them for real applications, I’ve come to a simple conclusion: asking which one wins? is the wrong question. Ethereum has already won for institutional finance and maximum security. Solana has already won for retail users and micro-transactions. They’re playing different games. For serious money that needs maximum security, I use Ethereum. For daily transactions, experimentation, and consumer apps, I use Solana. For investment, I hold both.My prediction for 2025 Both will thrive. Ethereum will cement its position as the institutional blockchain. Solana will continue growing as the people’s blockchain. And I’ll keep using both, taking advantage of what each does best.

Which chain am I betting on Both. Because that’s what the real world looks like when you stop reading tribal tweets and start actually using these technologies.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

By Mr. Subhankor

Q1: Should I put all my money in Ethereum or Solana?

A: Neither. Never put all your money in any single asset, especially in crypto. Based on my experience, I keep 60% in ETH and 40% in SOL among my smart contract platform holdings, but this is only a portion of my overall portfolio. Diversification has saved me multiple times.

Q2: Is Solana too risky because of the network outages?

A: It’s definitely riskier than Ethereum in terms of network reliability. However, the outages have become less frequent and shorter in duration. The last major outage was in early 2023, and the network has been stable since. I manage this risk by not keeping money I can’t afford to lose on Solana and always maintaining access to my Ethereum holdings as a backup.

Q3: Are Ethereum’s high fees ever going to be fixed?

A: The mainnet fees will likely remain high because Ethereum is prioritizing security over speed. However, Layer 2 solutions like Arbitrum, Optimism, and Base offer Ethereum security with 90% lower fees. The upcoming Dencun upgrade should make L2s even cheaper. I now do 80% of my Ethereum transactions on Layer 2s.

Q4: Which is better for NFTs Ethereum or Solana?

A: Ethereum has the premium NFT market (Bored Apes, CryptoPunks, etc.), but Solana has the volume. I collect NFTs on both: expensive pieces I view as investments on Ethereum, and affordable community projects on Solana. Solana’s low fees make it perfect for creators launching new projects.

Q5: Can Solana really compete with Ethereum’s network effect?

A: Directly compete? Probably not in the next few years. But Solana doesn’t need to beat Ethereum it just needs to carve out its own niche, which it’s already doing successfully with payments, gaming, and consumer apps. Both can coexist and thrive.
